Irene Perales, LMSW | Counselor at Southwest Preparatory-Seguin Campus
Greetings from your counselor! I am extremely excited to serve you all! One of my key traits is utilizing my good listening skills to genuinely engage others. I do this by paying attention to what is being expressed so that we can collaboratively explore, identify, and address the immediate need at hand. This approach lays the groundwork for the process of goal setting, a preventative and strengthening measure to keep the individual accountable, yet allowing for flexibility while promoting self-growth. My professional background and training is rooted in applying the lens of family systems theory to reveal interactions between varying members of complex social systems. Examining whole systems, and interactions within that system reveal influences on human behaviors. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Community and Mental Health from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in 2012 and earned a masters degree in social work from the University of Texas-Arlington in 2016. I have counseled families, individuals, and facilitated groups with individuals from various age groups and backgrounds since 2016 when I became a Licensed Master Social Worker. I look forward to interacting with this community and getting to know everyone on an individual basis. Thank you!
