Home: Mr. Patrick Floyd

Welcome back to ECHS Social Studies!  I will be your facilitator as we navigate through Government/Economics (12th), American History (11th), World History (10th) and one or more elective classes.  We will examine the causes and effects of historical events and the motivations of the people involved.  More importantly, we will explore the whys of history and how it affects us today.  My philosophy for my classes is "No pressure, No Diamonds".  So be prepared to work hard and have some fun at the same time!  Come to class academically and mentally prepared so you can put forth your best effort and be as successful as you can be!  

 

A little about me, I am originally from Indiana and I moved to San Antonio largely due to the lack of snow.  I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education from Ball State University in 1993.  This year will be my 23rd in the classroom with all but four of them spent at the high school level.  I have coached basketball officially and voluntarily for a total of 15+ years. Outside of school, I am an avid old school music lover and movie buff.  I own well over 1000 albums and CD's and over 1200 Blu-ray and DVD titles. I consistently use movie references in my classes so make sure your streaming subscriptions are active!

Lastly, I love to cook!  It's an awesome thing to fall in love with an essential life skill!.  I incorporate cooking into my Economics class to help outgoing seniors be better prepared for the real world.  You cannot and should not eat microwave food and/or fast food for every meal.  I have included a gallery of music and food creations below!
