District Earns ALICE Certification for Enhanced Safety

Southwest Preparatory School Earns ALICE Certification for Active Response Preparedness

Southwest Preparatory School is proud to announce that we have been recognized as an ALICE Certified Organization, demonstrating our commitment to maintaining a safe and prepared school environment. This certification, awarded by Navigate360, signifies that our school has met the requirements for active response preparedness using the ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) method.

ALICE CERTIFIED ORGANIZATION What does this mean for our school community?
An ALICE Certified Organization has received specialized training in responding to active shooter and violent situations, equipping students and staff with proactive strategies to enhance safety. Superintendent Christinn Jean emphasized the importance of this certification, stating, “Active shooter situations are unpredictable, and having a clear, structured response plan can save lives. ALICE provides our employees and students with immediate, practical strategies they can use to protect themselves.”

Our Commitment to Safety
The certification process involved extensive training and the implementation of ALICE principles across all Southwest Preparatory School campuses. As part of our ongoing efforts, we are committed to ensuring that all staff and students are prepared and confident in responding to emergencies.

"While we all hope we will never face such a crisis, it is crucial that we prepare in advance," said Jean. "ALICE training provides critical strategies for responding to an emergency, and it empowers our staff and students with the tools needed to act with confidence, protect themselves, and stay safe."

At Southwest Preparatory School, the safety of our students, staff, and visitors remains a top priority. This certification reinforces our dedication to providing a secure learning environment while equipping our school community with the knowledge and skills to respond effectively in any situation.
