We welcome Travis Shoemake back to Southwest Preparatory School, where he rejoins the Southeast campus as the new Assistant Principal. For Mr. Shoemake, this is more than just a career move—it’s a homecoming. “I’m back home,” he shared with excitement, reflecting on how special it is to return to the place where he first began his teaching career.
Mr. Shoemake brings with him a wealth of experience in educational leadership, curriculum development, and student engagement strategies from previous districts. His dedication to supporting both students and teachers is evident in his approach, and he is committed to fostering a positive and inclusive school culture where all students can thrive.
Having previously worked at Southwest Prep, Mr. Shoemake is eager to reconnect with the community. “The connections I made with staff, students, and families were instrumental in shaping my leadership style,” he noted. “I’m thrilled to contribute to the school’s continued success—it’s a personal and professional highlight for me.”
In his new role as Assistant Principal, Mr. Shoemake is excited to collaborate with the talented staff and students to further enhance academic achievement. His vision includes creating a safe and supportive environment where students can succeed, earn a quality education, and prepare to enter the workforce with the skills they need to succeed. “I look forward to shaping our future leaders and seeing our students become productive members of society.”
Lindsey Heckman, Principal of Southwest Prep Southeast, shared her excitement about Mr. Shoemake’s return: “We are thrilled to have Mr. Shoemake back to complete our administrative team. His new motivation as an AP, along with his wealth of knowledge, will be instrumental as we work to grow our CTE program and provide additional opportunities for our students. He will play a key role in our current and future success.”
